PARISH COUNCIL

DOG FOULING

Despite frequent requests through the newsletter and leaflet drop to take home 'doggy mess', we are still receiving complaints regarding  'dog fouling' throughout the village. As a result of this the Dog Warden will be carrying out random patrols and can prosecute offenders, which may result in a large fine.

Update on the Pinfold will be available for the February issue.

The next meeting will be held on Monday 6th March 2006  commencing at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall

VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE

Next meeting

The next meeting of the Village Hall Committee will be on the 1st February at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.  All villagers are warmly invited.  Plans are now being made for the main summer event at the beginning of July.  All suggestions will be very welcome.

SCHOOL NEWS

A Happy New Year to all!  Hopefully we have left the colds and other viruses behind in 2005 and are set to enjoy a healthy 2006. To this end we will be re-vamping our lunch menus, with the assistance of Patricia Niland - a qualified nutritionist, ready for self-management in April.  Watch out Jamie Oliver!

We are planning a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester next month to enhance this term’s science topics of electricity and forces.

We welcome Julie Yarwood to the staff.  Julie is a Special Support Assistant which means we now have three, in addition to our Nursery Nurse, Mrs Smith.  We are very fortunate at Tockholes to have an exceptional level of support staff and I am very grateful for the work they do to help every child achieve their potential.

GARDEN CLUB

There has been a lot of interest and a good response to starting a Gardening Club in the village.  Our first meeting is to be held on Tuesday 7th February in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Could anyone wanting to attend who has not already been in contact with me, give me a ring.  ALL ARE WELCOME.

Please bring with you your ideas, interests or just enthusiasm on how you would like the club to go forward.

The Christingle Service on Christmas Eve was a very well attended event with over 100 people present - an increase on the previous year.  It was gratifying to see the church looking so full, and pleasing to note that the musicians and reader at the service were all young people.  Our thanks to Katie, Jack and Jack for their superb contributions.  A collection taken at the service for the work of the Children's Society raised £150.

MOBILE LIBRARY

The van is due to visit the village every other Thursday,  9th and 23rd of February.  As usual, it will be on the Vic car park from about 11.10am to 11.30am.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

There was an attempted break-in in the village during the Christmas period.  Much damage was done to a rear door and window.  Items were also stolen from a garden in another part of the village.

Simple precautions may help to deter such events.  ALDI has a simple and easily-fitted alarm system in at the moment.  These would help protect garages/sheds – even conservatories.  The cost -  £12.99!
