A
great night was had by young and old who came to the Village Hall on the 12 of
this month.

The
hall was full to bursting for the fantastic up & coming group “The Swing
Commanders ".

Since
they were originally booked they have become almost a stellar success and have
even been engaged to play a series of gigs in the USA later this year.

The 6 piece group all of them very talented
musicians played for us for well over a total of 2 hours, (including about 6
encores). The audience soon got into the swing and by the half time break many
had already showed what a collection of superb dancers we have in the village.

Many
of the audience came dressed in period gear, the period being post 2nd world
war.

At the half way mark there was a quiz and a
raffle, both well supported, and together with the profit from the ticket sales
earned a very handsome £650 for the
Hall charity. The general consensus was that it would be great if we could organize
a similar night on a more regular basis. These occasions bring the village
together and promote a great feeling of community, and make use of our greatest
asset, the Hall. Any thoughts and ideas
from others would be welcome. A special thanks to all who helped with the
organisation of the event.
